“Fade to Black”

Reach out your hand
I’ll promise it’s easy
You’ll fade to black
You’ll fade to black

You’ve made your plans
Drawn out your feelings
And now it’s faded black
All around you
The marble cracked
Don’t be so distant
Oh

Out of touch, your touch through my bones
Turns me to white gold
While we fade to black

Underneath my skin, I’m shining
Makes me feel uneasy
Afraid to ask, we fade to black, we will

This is electricity, this is electricity

In four square windows
In added spaces
You’ll fade to black
You’ll fade to black, you will

Typeset on paper
Indents your memory
But now it’s faded black, all around you
People made of wax
You keep your distance, oh

Out of touch, your touch through my bones
Turns me to white gold
While we fade to black
We fade to black

Underneath my skin, I’m shining
Makes me feel uneasy
Afraid to ask, we fade to black, we will

Out of touch
Your touch through my bones
Turns me to white gold
While we fade to black,
We fade to black

Underneath my skin, I’m shining
Makes me feel uneasy
Afraid to ask, we fade to black, we will

“Jump In”

Burn your brand
All your pay
Give it all away

Trend is out
Bend it out
Arm, arm yourself it’s not too late

We’ll keep it movin
Mama’s let’s keep it movin’
To the dance floor

Jump In (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
Lose yourself
Let’s all give in (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
To the sound
We’re breaking pavement
Under our feet
The sand is pouring out
Into the street, jump in! (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
Commit your innocence
Let’s all submit (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
No resistance
Keep breaking pavement
Under our feet
The sand is pouring out
Into the street, jump in

Slate all gray
All, all day
Shield in my face

Fear the grid
Hold your ground
Be, be yourself it’s not too late

We’ll keep it movin,
Mama’s keep it movin’
To the dance floor

T-t-t-to the beat, unh!

Jump In (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
Lose yourself
Let’s all give in (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
To the sound
We’re breaking pavement
Under our feet
The cinders pouring out
Into the street, jump in! (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
Commit your innocence
Let’s all submit (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
With no resistance
Keep breaking pavement
Under our feet
The cinders pourning out
Into the street, jump in!

All ladies moving to the beat, all mamas to the beat
All mamas to the bee-eet
Back it up girl mamas to the beat, all mamas to the beat

All ladies moving through the beat are moving through the beat
All mamas to the bee-eet
Back it up girl, mamas to the beat, all mamas to the beat

Jump In (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
Lose yourself
Let’s all give in (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
To the sound
We’re breaking pavement
Under our feet
The cinders pouring out
Into the street, jump in! (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
Commit your innocence
Let’s all submit (keep it movin, ah, let’s keep it movin)
With no resistance
Keep breaking pavement
Under our feet
The cinders pourning out
Into the street, jump in!

MNDR is heading out on tour with The Ting Tings and she’s bringing along a redesigned live show.  The show was music directed and produced by Emmett Farley and the MNDR “Activity Center” was given an aesthetic overhaul in a collaboration with Brooklyn-based technology artists The Rainbroz, AKA Sean McIntyre and Reid Bingham who used an Arduino microcontroller and individually-addressable LEDs to create a new layer of synesthesia on stage.  Sean and Reid also collaborate as The Rainbroz on their party favorite, The Rainbow Machine as well as other like-minded creative endeavors.  You can see some behind-the-scenes photos of the new MNDR live rig in progress below or see it live on tour now.

MNDR has just remixed Rai Knight’s “New New” in Wade and Warner’s lo-fi “4-Track” remix style.  The remix was composed and recorded on 4 tracks of analog tape using Rai’s original vocal edited in ProTools.  Wade’s Yamaha RX5 drum machine provided the back beat and was layered with spring reverb and delay directly to tape.  Then synths were overdubbed (Voyager and SE-1) through UA  2-610’s and a vintage Omnipressor.

The remix was mixed at WonderSound by Emmett Farley.

A track sheet from the session is here:

After the devastating earthquake in Japan, WonderSound friends The Freelance Whales asked us to participate in a benefit EP to help Japan rebuild. We remixed “Hannah” and here’s how we did it.

The remix was programmed primarily on a Roland Jupiter 6 analog synth tracked through a Universal Audio 2-610 and Distressor. I cut up the original drums from the session, re-amped them, and layered them with 12 bit drum samples from my Yamaha RX5 drum machine.  The concept was to build slowly, drop everything out and then experience a brain overload where we throw everything at it. With a stunning mix from studio engineer Emmett Farley, the remix of the popular single “Hannah” was born.
